Since it first planted its golden arches in China 28 years ago, McDonald’s has added about 2,000 sites throughout the country. What’s more, Beijing is home to the biggest McDonald’s in the world.

Husband-and-wife team Xinyu Zhang, 32, and Eriko Zhao, 34, hope to return the favor – by bringing across the Pacific a massively popular Chinese chain.

Last summer, the couple chose Tustin’s Red Hill Plaza to open the first Yang’s Braised Chicken Rice in the United States. Established in 2011 by chef Xiaolu Yang, the brand rapidly exploded to 6,000-plus restaurants across China.
